Report Fixer privacy
This section describes how Report Fixer handles data. It supplements the site-wide privacy policy.
Where the extension runs
In your browser, on QuickBooks Online pages only (qbo.intuit.com and its subdomains). Atesen Software never receives your reports.
What it reads
The report on the page: to lay it out, to copy it to the clipboard when you ask and to save it as a CSV file when you ask. It changes nothing in QuickBooks Online.
What it stores
- Your settings (on or off for each feature, row height and where you dragged the floating buttons), in the browser’s synced extension storage. If Chrome Sync is turned on, Chrome copies these settings through your Google account. They contain no report data.
- For each report, the names of the rows you expanded or collapsed, so that it reopens the same way (Pro). These are account, customer and vendor names as they appear in the report, up to 120 characters each, up to 800 rows per report and 300 reports. It is kept in the browser’s local extension storage on this device only, and is not synced.
- The plan, in the same local extension storage on this device only: which version this browser started with, whether you are a founding user, and today’s reports as short codes (an 8-character hash of each report’s address and title, never its name), so the free plan can count 3 a day. To recognise a founding user once, it reads whether your synced settings or remembered rows existed before version 0.3; it writes nothing to synced storage.
- If you enter one, your license key, the date it was last checked and the ids of keys the license server reported as cancelled, in the same local storage.
- While a drill-down opens in a new tab (for at most two minutes), the name of the row you clicked, its column and the amount shown, in the browser’s memory only. They are not written to disk.
Deleting what it stored
The toolbar popup has a Forget remembered rows button that deletes every saved row name, and a Remove license key button. Turning Remember expanded rows off only stops new rows from being saved. Removing the extension from the browser deletes everything it stored.
What it sends
Without a license key it makes no network requests: no analytics, no account and no remote code, for founding users and on the free plan alike. If you enter a license key, the extension sends that key, and nothing else, to the Atesen Software license server (https://report-fixer.atesensoftware.com) when you activate it and then, while a report is open, at most once a day while the key is still valid (about once an hour after the key has expired), to receive a renewed key and to learn whether the subscription was cancelled or refunded. No report data, company name or QuickBooks account detail is ever sent. The only other copy outside your browser is the one Chrome Sync makes of your settings, if you have turned it on. The support snapshot is copied to your clipboard only when you press its button, with letters and digits replaced, and goes nowhere unless you send it.
Buying Pro
Pro is bought on report-fixer.atesensoftware.com. Paddle, the merchant of record, handles the payment and receives your e-mail address and payment details; the extension never sees them. Our license server receives your e-mail address from Paddle only to send the key and keeps a keyed hash of it so a lost key can be sent again.
Permissions it asks for
- Storage: to keep your settings, the plan, your license key and the row names described above.
- Access to qbo.intuit.com and its subdomains, through a content script: to change how reports are shown and to read them for copying and CSV. The extension has no access to any other site. The license check needs no permission: the license server answers the extension with CORS.
